Walt Disney World

Kris Allen: The Expeience

“Kris Allen, you’re the newest American Idol. what are you going to do next?” Well the answer was obviously going to Disney World which he did on Friday May 29. Amongst the crowds were Disney Cast Members who won a competition, as well as some dedicated fans who also got to be up close like my family did. The event began with a procession down Hollywood Boulevard and ended up at a stage set up in front of the American Idol Experience, after a short concert where he performed Heartless. After the concert he made a surprise visit to give advice to the contestants in The American Idol Experience, as well as announcing the winner.

Space Mountain Crane Spotted

On April 19, 2009 Space Mountain at Walt Disney world’s Magic Kingdom closed for a massive refurbishment and restoration project to bring the attraction into the 21st century. To accomplish this, the entire area of Tomorrowland near Space Mountain is closed including the attraction and its exit, the Tomorrowland Starcade. Below are photos I took on May 12.

Studio 20: Day 2

All over the Walt Disney World resort there were Lights, Cameras, and Action to help celebrate Disney’s Hollywood Studios 20th anniversary. Of course it would not be a major anniversary without WDW Celebrations who celebrated by staging, “Studio 20″.

To honor this milestone Disney celebrated by holding a event at the Premier theater, not to mention selling decorated cupcakes, a beautiful t-shirt as well adding a few special touches like banners at the park entrance and a history exhibit on the park in the One Man’s Dream attraction. While Disney mostly celebrated the anniversary on May 1 WDW Celebrations held their “Studio 20″ event over three days, April 30 through May 2. You can see the first day’s events here.

The last “Studio 20″ event occurred on May 2 and began with a ride on Star Tours followed by a showing of The American Idol Experience. After that was a a group lunch at the Back lot express and then some independent time to see Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream and The Magic of Disney Animation. As the day went on there was a group ride on the Studio Backlot Tour. The day was capped off by a history walk and group ride on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Adventurers Lost in The Studios?

This was a site for sore eyes. Last September, during Closing night, the cast said during the Hoopla! (Hoopla!) that they were going on a year long safari, but apparently that does not mean fans of the closed attraction wont dress up to honor the memory of the Adventurers Club, on the anniversary of it’s grand opening.

Bon Appetit from Chef Remy

Since Lucky the dinosaur took his first steps in 2005 Disney has been creating new animatronics and limited engagement experiences that can be spontaneous and entertaining, not to mention interacting directly with the guests at the Disney parks. The experience continues with newest experience fresh from Disneyland Paris, “Bon Appetit from Chef Remy.”

Strait out of the film Ratatouille, Remy travels around the restaurant on a rolling gourmet food cart with a Maitre d’ presenting him to each table in the restaurant. Once the guests see Remy he may interact with sprightly movements and lively banter, or even dance to a classic French love song or bust a move to hip hop.

Celebrate A Parade

Since 1971 Walt Disney World has been celebrating something and this year they want to Celebrate You! with this campaign they have created new shows and attractions as well as updated many of the favorite parades. The new Celebrate A Dream Come True parade takes place in the Magic Kingdom and features the same floats as the previous incarnation only now they have been updated to hold more characters. In between each float dancers bring kinetic energy and interact with the crowd. With an updated Mickey float that looks like a package has burst open and a new show stop this parade is definitely Celebrating You!
